West Contra Costa school board approves contracts, bylaw amendment

In split votes, the West Contra Costa school board on Wednesday approved $451,000 in increased legal fees to represent Board President Charles Ramsey and others in a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation, along with an amendment to the board’s bylaws to allow the district to pay for legal counsel to represent trustees in investigations. In addition, the board unanimously approved a $7.5 million increase in design fees for WLC Architects’ work on Pinole Valley High during the special meeting, which was the last for outgoing Board President Charles Ramsey and Trustee Elaine Merriweather.
