Pittsburg police made errors in more than half of crime reports analyzed, DA audit finds

A two-month audit by the Contra Costa District Attorney and Sheriff’s offices found more than half of the 2015 Pittsburg Police Department ‘suspicious circumstance’ reports should have been recorded as crimes and reported to the FBI. Despite the errors, the report found that it did not appear the mistakes were intentional, as it would not have significantly altered the city’s low crime rate, even if reported correctly.
