The stretch of Niles Canyon between Sunol and Fremont where a commuter train derailed Monday night injuring nine passengers is fraught with landslides, leading a Altamont Commuter Express manager to question whether the tracks should be guarded by fence sensors that would alert incoming trains of blocked routes.
